Tous les morts-nes forment une armee

Haiti is a bit of a haunting place. Once while there, we climbed up to a fort atop a mountain to gaze down and try to understand the UN tanks, bribe-hungry cops, colorful culture and charming (if glassy-eyed) people — and to stop and ask what the hell went wrong.

Then I left my camera in a taxi.

Thankfully our friend Chris didn't, and just sent us this picture:

the Citadelle! such a crazy place that is. we went there on our trip to Haiti -- the whole way up us trying to explain that we'd rather just walk than have them beat the donkeys we were riding on. Then you get to the top and the view is amazing and your wanderlust is tasting sweet fullfillment... but at the same time your mind is swarming with all the poverty and questions of humanity from all that lies around the building and in the history of its making. Intense... Great pic capturing that moment with you and Con :)
